T. Rowe Price:
Investor Magazine Redesign


T. Rowe Price is one of those names that, if you’re not in- or into finance, you’ve probably never heard of, and I cherish these kinds of clients because they sometimes present a surprising creative opportunity. Imprint, a marketing and communications agency, was doing a redesign of Price’s main publication, Investor Magazine, and I was brought on board to do some concepting. Not pictured are a few takes that wound up being deemed a bit too HBR or a little to Atlantic. The idea that is pictured takes as its foundation the perspectival notion of “looking up”—a conceptual and aesthetic constant in all of T. Rowe’s photography—and blows it out into a complete set of publications that work both serially and as a unit, because when assembled side-by-side both the front covers and the spines create a continuous panorama. Typography, graphic assets, and internal layouts were also part of the exercise. Unfortunately, along with the other pitches, this one didn’t quite make the cut, but a few bits of the exploration were pulled forward into what Investor was to become.
